Areais de Santa Bárbara

São Miguel

The stage for international surfing competitions since 2010, this beach is one of the most popular in S. Miguel. It’s almost 1 km long and is the most sought-after beach destination on the island in the summer. The island of São Miguel is one of the best in the archipelago for surfing, which is guaranteed all year round. 

Praia dos Mosteiros

São Miguel

A dark sandy beach known for its magnificent sunsets. Located on the west coast, it acts as a point break with waves from the north-east quadrant to the south. 

Fajã de Santo Cristo

São Jorge

Considered a surfing and bodyboarding sanctuary. Several world champion surfers have visited the fajã, which is not to be missed.

Quatro Ribeiras

Terceira

Located on the north coast of the island, the waves reach their potential above 3 m, with long sets. Surfing experience is recommended for this site.

Praia do Pópulo

São Miguel
With dark volcanic sand, this small beach is mostly frequented by surfers and bodyboarders.
